Why we move

Everyone can do something: a walk, a stretch, a dance. Together, that becomes care.

Since 2009, Northwood Children's Hospice in Gqeberha has provided holistic care to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. The children are aged three to eighteen and come from townships and rural communities across the Eastern Cape.

Hospice care here is much more than end-of-life care. It includes clinical and palliative care, the Northwood Children's Special Needs Edu-Care Centre, educational support for children and their siblings, learnerships for young people, and food parcels and grief counselling for families.

Government funding covers only a fraction of what this work costs. The rest comes from people who choose to help. MoveKind turns everyday movement into that help.

How the February challenge will work

The first MoveKind challenge is planned for February 2027 and is expected to run for 14 days. Any movement counts. The point is showing up, not the kilometres.

  1. Choose your movement

    Pick something you enjoy and can do safely. Walk, wheel, cycle, swim, dance, stretch or try yoga.

  2. Take part your way

    Move on your own, with family, friends or colleagues, at a pace and time that suits you.

  3. Raise support for Northwood

    Invite the people around you to back your effort and support the children and families Northwood cares for.

This is not a registration or a donation, and there's nothing to pay. If you ask for challenge updates, we'll let you know when registration opens. Northwood's team will be in touch about anything else you choose.

This notice explains how Northwood Children's Hospice handles the personal information you share through this page, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

When you register your interest, we collect your name, email address, how you'd like to get involved, anything you tell us about your interest, and whether you asked for challenge updates or to keep in touch after the challenge.

Please don't include health information or details about children in your message.

Why we use it

We use your details only for the purposes you agreed to:

We do not sell your information. Registering your interest does not sign you up for anything else: we only stay in touch after the challenge if you ticked the separate box for it.

Do you have to share it?

No. Sharing your details is voluntary, but without a name and email address we can't send updates or follow up with you.

Who can see it

Northwood staff and volunteers who organise MoveKind. Our form is provided by Jotform, which receives and stores submissions for us. We also use service providers to host this page and send emails. They may only use your information to provide that service. If any of them store information outside South Africa, we will make sure it is protected to the standard POPIA requires.

This page loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your device's IP address when the page opens.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires.
